Providence Ballet

Eva Marie Pacheco 

 Eva Marie, a Rhode Island native, has been the Owner and Artistic Director of the Providence Ballet School established in June of 1995 and its satellite school, Providence Ballet @ Aim High Academy, East Greenwich, Rhode Island in 1998; she joined the dance faculty at Rhode Island College in 2004 and Brown University the spring of 2008. She is Artistic Director of the Providence Youth Ballet which made its performance debut at the Greenwich Odeum in the spring of 2004. She is currently performing with the Island Moving Company (IMC) of Newport, Rhode Island.  She was a founding member of Festival Ballet under the Direction of Christine Hennesey and Winthrop Cory. She toured with the Everett Dance Theatre in ‘The Science Project’, and ‘Body of Work’. When not working with IMC, she can be found working with the Cadence Dance Project, Providence, Rhode Island and carolsomersDANCE, Boston, Massachusetts. As a choreographer, she has created several works for Festival Ballet, including ‘Los Caminos’ and ‘In the Mood’;  for IMC, most recently ‘Je Ne Regrette Rein.’  Eva Marie’s first full-length Ballet ‘Twas the Night before Christmas,’ premiered in December 1995 with IMC.  In the winter of 2002, she was instrumental in mounting 'A Newport Nutcracker' at Rosecliff for the IMC. She was very excited to bring together a group of extraordinary performers for the professional debut performance of the Providence Ballet Theatre on Friday, October 24, 2008 at Rhode Island College.

Michael Bolger

 Michael, originally from Fall River, Massachusetts, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from State University of New York at Purchase. He is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher now living in Providence, Rhode Island. He has been a visiting artist creating works for Rhode Island College, Roger Williams University, Wheaton College, Salve Regina University and St. George’s School. His choreography and site-specific work has been commissioned by the Island Moving Company (IMC) of Newport, Rhode Island , Spindle City Ballet, Providence Ballet and Connecticut Concert Ballet.  Michael continues to perform a wide range of contemporary works with the IMC and carolsomersDANCE in Boston, Massachusetts.   Past performance credits include Underfoot Dance in New York, PHFFT! Company in France and Cadence Dance Project in Providence Rhode Island. Michael’s teaching credits span universities, companies and dance organizations. He is the Director of Dance Education for the IMC coordinating creative based programs for elementary, middle and high school students. He is currently on faculty at Providence Ballet, Roger Williams University, and RI College.

Sara Barney

Sara, a native Rhode Islander, is currently in her third year at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts studying in the contemporary dance program. She started her ballet training with Providence Ballet under the artistic direction of Eva Marie Pacheco. Her training continued at The National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada and Alonzo Kings’ Lines Ballet in San Francisco, California. She has performed with the Providence Youth Ballet, Spindle City Ballet of Fall River, Massachusetts, Connecticut Concert Ballet and Island Moving Company (IMC) in Newport Rhode Island. 

David Dubois

David began his training at the Pinellas Country Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.  He went on to study at the San Francisco Ballet School and Boston Conservatory, and he is currently performing with the Island Moving Company (IMC) of Newport, Rhode Island. David has performed with Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Spindle City Ballet of Fall River, Massachusetts, and Connecticut Concert Ballet. He is currently on faculty at Newport Academy of Ballet , Spindle City Ballet and Providence Ballet.

Danielle Genest

 Danielle has danced professionally with Hartford Ballet, New York Theatre Ballet, Cadence Dance Project (Colleen Cavanaugh and Dancers) and currently with the Island Moving Company (IMC) of Newport Rhode Island. She has also worked with various independent choreographers both nationally and internationally. As a choreographer herself, Danielle has created works for New York Theatre Ballet, IMC, Tallahassee Ballet, Festival Ballet Providence’s Junior Company, and Hartford Ballet’s Arts Exclusive.  Her work has been showcased at the Élan Awards in New York City and the 10th International’s Ballet meeting in Austria.  Additionally, Danielle is co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of New York City based Janusphere Dance Company for which she choreographs and dances.  She is currently on the faculty of Providence Ballet and Newport Academy of Ballet.

Lilia Ortola

Lilia started her dance training with the Connecticut Concert Ballet in Manchester, Connecticut. She has also studied at The School of Nutmeg Ballet in Torrington, and the School of the Joffrey Ballet in New York City. While in college at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Lilia expanded her dance training to include modern, jazz, tap, African, tango, improvisation, and Pilates. She is currently performing with The Island Moving Company (IMC) of Newport, Rhode Island and teaches in their dance residency program. Lilia continues to teach and perform for the Connecticut Concert Ballet, and she is frequently a guest artist at Providence Ballet.

Revka Hovermale

 Revka Hovermale, a Newport, Rhode Island native, has been teaching for Providence Ballet since 2001. She began her formal dance education at the Newport Academy of Ballet under Miki Ohlsen Artistic Director of Island Moving Company (IMC). Revka continued her dance education under Paula Bliss, Professor of Dance Education, at San Jose State CollegeAlong with Paula, Revka worked as an artist in residence in various public and private schools in the Santa Cruz area teaching creative movement classes and touring with a children’s dance company. In 2005 Revka earned her BA in Dance Performance, with a Minor in Theater, from Rhode Island College. Revka has been a member of the Island Moving Company's residency program for the Middletown and Newport public chools. She toured with modern dance company, Andary Dance, in 'Flight Plan' and '5500- K Spectra.'  She has worked on many other projects with Nathan Andary.   Revka is a member of The Rhode Island Independent Artist Network (RI2PN).  She has choreographed and performed in dance concerts including 'Cheek to Cheek,' 'Frazier Festival' and 'Dance Extravaganza.'  She was a dancer for Double Shift Dance Theater with Nikki Carrara and Peter Deffet.In 2005, Revka and music therapist Nicole Boucher began The Expressive Arts Camp, a summer program combining music, dance and art therapies creating fun for special needs children in integrated groups. Recently, Revka has begun a creative movement program for St. Michael's Country Day School in Newport R.I.
